Coloradans Can’t Afford The State Government Option
Protect Colorado’s Health Care
Colorado’s state government option would put politicians in control of Coloradans’ health care, hurt our economy, threaten jobs and destabilize the employer-provided health coverage millions of Coloradans rely on. Let’s build on what’s working and fix what’s broken – not force Coloradans into a new government-controlled health insurance system.
The Facts:
The Truth:
Every Coloradan deserves access to affordable, quality health care. But a state government option puts politicians in control of our health care decisions instead of patients, doctors and nurses.
A state government option means most Coloradans would have to pay more to wait longer for worse care. It would artificially lower premiums by cutting payments to doctors and hospitals, increasing costs for the majority of Coloradans with employer-provided coverage, and significantly limiting access to care for Coloradans in rural communities.
The state government option is not designed to compete with private insurance plans. It’s designed to force as many Coloradans as possible into a new government-controlled health insurance system over time. It would shift costs to those with private insurance and studies show similar systems could force rural hospitals, serving thousands of Coloradans, to close.
It’s time to build on what’s working and fix what’s broken – not force Coloradans into a new government-controlled insurance system.
