DENVER – Colorado’s Health Care Future issued the following statement today regarding the report from the Colorado Health Care Cost Analysis Task Force to the Colorado Legislature.
“Colorado has a track record of tried and failed state government health insurance programs. The recommendation to create a new government-controlled health insurance system from the Colorado Health Care Cost Analysis Task Force is another empty promise for Coloradans. A large and growing body of research shows a government-controlled health care system could come with unaffordable costs and negative consequences for Coloradans. The most effective way to expand access to affordable, high-quality health coverage and care is to focus on solutions that strengthen our existing health care system to lower costs, protect patient choice, expand access, improve quality and support facilities that serve communities where the needs are greatest.”
